The Iowa Primary Care Association coordinates a statewide network to ensure clear, consistent access to the continuum of behavioral health services as part of the state’s Behavioral Health Service System, led by the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services.
What is Behavioral Health and the role of the Iowa PCA?
Our role is to ensure all Iowans have clear, consistent pathways to mental health and addictive disorders care by building and managing a unified network of providers.
We support prevention, early intervention, treatment, recovery, and crisis services, while also addressing interconnected needs like housing and daily living challenges. By streamlining operations and coordinating care, Iowa PCA helps create a more holistic, accessible, and equitable behavioral health system for every Iowan.
To continually build upon this system and meet the needs of your community, we ask that you share your valuable perspective by completing the District Assessment Survey. The District Assessment Survey will close on Friday, Jan. 9, 2026.
